Tech Talk Live 2015: Educational IT Professional Development at its Best

Jessica Diller

Tech Talk Live planning is well on its way, and we are so excited to announce some of the changes and some of the things that will stay the same.  Every year after the conference is over, we send out a survey to receive feedback. We use this feedback to improve our conference and to give our audience exactly what they are looking for in regards to professional development, resources, and networking.

So what is Tech Talk Live?   It is a two-day conference for IT professionals who support education.  It focuses on the day-to-day issues that technology professionals face in the educational environment every day.

How is Tech Talk Live different from other conferences?  While other conferences might have strands for IT professionals, this conference’s main focus is IT professionals. All the sessions, sponsors, and roundtables are centered on topics in which IT Professionals supporting education have interest.

What can I expect as an attendee? You can expect two days full of content specifically for IT pros in education, sessions given by IT staff from other educational entities who have implemented products in an education environment and a leadership strand for technology leaders who are looking for ways to improve.  The days will be filled with networking opportunities with colleagues who understand your work.  There is a sponsor hall filled with vendors with knowledge about products or services to help solve any IT-related problems at your organization.

What’s new this year? There are many new things this year.  For starters we have reconfigured our setup to add an additional two rooms so that we can have more space and more session selections.  We have revamped the schedule to decrease the number of vendor-led sessions and reduced the vendor-led session times to 30 minutes. We are ending our second day at 2:30 PM so that individuals will have time to travel home.  Last but not least, we have given sponsors the option of attending one day or two, in the hopes of securing different vendors from which participants can obtain information.  There are also some other minor changes . . . I guess you will have to attend to find out what they are.

What is staying the same? We are really happy to announce that our location will be remaining the same this year.  We love our conference center facility and find that it provides a great atmosphere to network and get together with your peers.  We will still be providing two long lunches and the Tuesday evening dinner. Yum!  Back by popular demand, we will be having our pre-conference Cyber Security Institute with all new topics, legal representation, and cyber security experts.

When does registration open? Registration opens Monday, October 13, 2015.  Like every year, the first 200 registrants will get Tech Talk Live apparel . . . this year I heard they might be fleece pull-overs, so don’t forget to register early!
