Developing a “Sound” Unified Communications Strategy

Because of the changes in the FCC's "E-Rate Modernization Order," landline and mobile telephony are no longer considered to be eligible services for schools. As such, technology staff are asked to be a part of the conversation on driving down costs while providing effective services to staff and students. This presentation will give attendees a look into what goes into the engineering and planning processes related to development of a comprehensive Unified Communications strategy. We will discuss public switched telephone network (PSTN) connectivity options, requisite network configuration, equipment needed, paid and open source options, VoIP integration with third party applications and legacy services, what to do with pesky fax machines, and much more! Come and be a part of the conversation. Attendees should walk away from this presentation with a solid understanding of actionable discussion items to take back to their schools relating to telephone/UC services.
